More Exciting News in the World of MTB!

For those of you who can’t make the Maxinquaye Reunion shows…. You’ll be pleased to know Martina has other exciting projects to look forward to!

Martina recently collaborated with Chris Clark on his album, Warp.  Their track, 'Secret' has been receiving impressive reviews, including this from The Guardian:

"I've wanted to get Martina on a track for a while now, but really wanted a proper hook/melody and set of lyrics for her to sing," Clark explains, "rather then doing that cliche producer thing of getting 'sexy female vocals chopped up over fat masculine beats." Perhaps the most joyful thing about Secret is how collaborative it feels, Clark's squelchy drums and delicate guitar intertwining with Topley-Bird's high-wire vocals, which are both sensual and painfully fragile.

Check out DIY for another grand review, and the music video on here on YouTube

Martina is also honoured to have her song “Too Tough to Die” covered by Neneh Cherry.  Ms Cherry has teamed up with a Scandinavian jazz trio The Thing to record a new LP, set for release June 19th.

More fabulous tunes are also on the way from the MTB & NinJa, as well as exciting new dance project she is working on with hot-shot international DJs.

Stay tuned for festival announcements……

Martina Performs at House of Commons!

Martina was honoured to perform at The House of Commons this evening in a celebration of live music to welcome The Live Music Act. The Rt Hon Don Foster and Lord Tim Clement-Jones hosted the occasion in association with UK Music and Musicians' Union. The act will mean that venues under 200 capacity will not have to apply for a live music license, so this is great news for small venues!

"It is a pleasure to be part of this event celebrating the opportunities that this vital piece of legislation will create. Live performance is a central force in creativity - for me as an artist the importance of playing live all over the world cannot be overstated. The live music act will make a real difference to emerging talent and is something that everyone involved should be very proud of." - MTB
